Yuko MATSUOKA graduated from the International Christian University, Tokyo, majoring in Japanese History. She interpreted for the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and became a freelance interpreter in 1972. In 1983 she joined AIIC. She has interpreted for many organisations and been consultant interpreter for several private companies. She has trained interpreters and taught at Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin, the Sophia University, Tokyo and the Monetary Institute of International Studeis (MIIS) in California. She obtained an MA in International Political Studies from MIIS in 1996. She runs an interpretation company and a publishing firm.
